From all that I am finding out about Haritaki it appears the ancients knew how to use it very effectively. When in full health is present haritaki increases sexual health to the point of being an aphrodisiac. When health is weakened it is not of help, instead increasing health issues that are unwelcome. My recommendation: Stay healthy and enjoy all the many benefits of haritaki.

(from wikipedia): “The pineal gland (also called the pineal body, epiphysis cerebri, epiphysis, conarium or the third eye) is a small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain. It produces the serotonin derivative melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns and seasonal functions. Its shape resembles a tiny pine cone (hence its name), and it is located near the centre of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a groove where the two rounded thalamic bodies join.”

The Ac1 test can be used to determine blood glucose (blood sugar ) levels over a three month period and can help in the diagnosis of pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. Scientific studies on Haritaki have demonstrated its active compounds assisting with the maintenance of stable blood glucose levels and in helping to prevent insulin resistance. Haritaki has therefore been shown to be an effective remedy to help lower a person’s A1c levels, meaning it can be used as both a preventative measure against Type 2 diabetes development — and to assist those whom are already diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes by helping to increase glucose tolerance. Further studies are needed, but Harataki shows promise as a natural aid to decrease insulin resistance and has been used Traditionally for hundreds of years to stabilise fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

While the physiological function of the pineal gland has been unknown until recent times, mystical traditions and esoteric schools have long known this area in the middle of the brain to be the connecting link between the physical and spiritual worlds. Considered the most powerful and highest source of ethereal energy available to humans, the pineal gland has been seen as a gateway that leads within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. Awakening the third eye acts as a “stargate.”
Hey there Jiva, thanks for this great question. The site lists so many different uses for haritaki that it is organised with each use as a page. So you can look up any use you are thinking of. The main use for opening the third eye are the ones that you already know, I can add that to make sure you take enough at night to have a great bowel movement in the morning. Finally, to use an enema in conjunction with haritaki does cleanse the system and the third eye even more.
Contraindications can include diarrhea, dysentery, and if you are pregnant or nursing. There are no known drug interactions with the herbs that make up triphala.1, 6 Some studies do report findings that would advise caution in people taking blood-thinning medicines,7, 8 as triphala may affect platelet function. From an Ayurvedic perspective, if your stools are dry and hard, consider using haritaki in place of triphala.
Haritaki has as a major property, the ability to cleanse the intestinal tract, and the whole gastro-intestinal system. This might sound fairly elementary as a property, however as we examine this in more detail, we see that when this system is clean then a great number of positive results take place. Blood oxygenation increases, which in turn  affects the whole body, with an increase in energy flow (1) and optimal brain function.

The name Haritaki Plus is given to this product because it has two qualities. The first is the herb itself, and the qualities it brings to the table. I am 25 years old and I am having irritation over left PNS/face/nose. Also, there is some pain in left side of jaw and sometimes clicking sound while chewing. All this is happening since last 6 - 7 months. I have tried nasal sprays, steams, anti allergic etc but nothing seems to work. I am also using Shadbindu Tail for 2 - 3 months frequently along with Chitrak haritaki and Haridra khan. Medical history: In AUG 2017, I had a surgery for horizontally impacted lower wisdom tooth as well as the upper one.
Understand, if you just detoxify and bring yourself to the Sadāshivoham, I can put the energy or I can just go on blasting your Third Eye with energy and do the detoxification, both are possible. But, if you do the detoxification and prepare yourself, little and come there, it can be hundred times more useful. The program will be hundred times more useful for you, because if you have finished the first level, I will do the next level. If I have to do the first level also, okay I will do. But, the way the exponential growth which can happen in you, if you do little preparation and come, will be amazing. It will be a amazing growth. So whoever wants to come for Sadāshivoham, please start detoxification process, now itself. Even otherwise, you can do detoxification. Toxins don’t do good in any way.

As one of the three ingredients in the Ayurvedic super formula Triphala, Haritaki is considered to be one of the best herbs for balancing vata dosha. Supporting the body's natural cleansing process, it gently removes accumulated natural toxins in the gastrointestinal tract. As a rejuvenative, it strengthens and nourishes the tissues and supports the proper function of the colon, lungs, liver, and spleen. Haritaki is traditionally used to address all vata-related imbalances. It maintains regular elimination, helps promote healthy body mass, and supports comfortable and complete digestion. Haritaki may help increase the expression of antioxidants found to fight oxidative stress, according to a 2009 study from Cell Biochemistry and Function. In tests on aging rats, the study's authors observed that treatment with haritaki helped boost concentrations of several antioxidants (including glutathione, superoxide dismutase, vitamin C, and vitamin E).
Many of the physical benefits come from the effects that Haritaki has on the gastro-intestinal tract.  As science is proving, a vibrant healthy stomach and intestinal tract means that all the organs such as the liver and kidneys are receiving toxin free content for them to work with. This in turn means that the rest of the body receives blood that has nutritional value, and therefore enhances optimal performance.
Triphala liquid extract provides an alternative method of taking triphala. It's convenient, easy to assimilate, and has a long shelf life. This extract is made from the same certified organic fruits used in making the herbal tablets and is extracted using non-GMO, gluten-free grain alcohol. A typical dose is a dropper full (about 30 drops) taken in 1–2 ounces of water or juice, one to three times daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

The pineal gland begins to calcify due to the harmful effects of artificial substances such as flouride chemicals found in public water systems and toothpaste, hormones and additives put into processed foods and sugars and artificial sweeteners dumped into soft drinks. Cell phones are also being pinpointed as being harmful to the pineal gland due to high concentrations of radiation.

The concept of agni, the Sanskrit word for "fire," is rather essential to the Ayurvedic tradition. Ayurveda views agni as the very source of life. It is said that a man is as old as his agni and that when agni is extinguished, we die. Perhaps even more significantly, Ayurveda teaches us that impaired agni is at the root of every imbalance and disease. So the importance of agni in Ayurveda simply cannot be understated.
In Ayurvedic literature, although the plant is mentioned in Brihatrayee (the three main lexicons of Ayurveda Charak-Susruta-Vagbhatt), its variety is not described by them. Nighantus have only stated the different varieties of Haritaki (i.e. Vijaya, Rohini, Putana, Amrita, Abhaya, Jivanti, and Chetaki), based on the region where the fruit is harvested, as well as the color and shape of the fruit. Furthermore, two varieties of Chetaki, namely, black and white, are described by Bhavamishra in Bhavaprakashnighantu. The Black Variety Chetaki, ‘Krisnaatwekaangulamata’ (Black chebulic myrobalan of only one fingerbreadth size) described by Bhavamishra may be compared with the black small-sized fruit of Haritaki (Jangi Haritaki/immature fruit of Haritaki) of the present time, which is available everywhere. ‘Churnarthachetakisasthaa’ told for manufacturing the powder form of medicine for laxative purpose, the Jangi Haritaki (Chetaki) is mainly used. The other variety (white) the Golden/Big variety, which is six-angula (six fingerbreadths) in length may be one of the variations of the large variety of Haritaki available in the market, which is used in the manufacture of preparations like, Abhayarishta, Agastyaharitakee, Vyaghriharitakee Avaleha, etc.

– Magnets. Attaching a magnet (that sticks by adhesive) to the part of your skin above your 3rd eye (located between your two physical eyes but slightly higher or slightly above the eyes) for a few hours throughout the day will also stimulate the Pineal Gland and help to decalcify it. Magnets cause the body to become alkaline, especially the part of the body where the magnet is attached. Any strength (gauss) magnet will work, but only use magnets on the head area during waking hours. The energy from Ra (Sun) will magnify the strength of the magnet’s effect on the Pineal Gland.
Antineoplastic agents: Based on an in vitro study, a 70% methanol extract of Terminalia chebula fruit may decrease cell viability, inhibit cell proliferation, and induce cell death in a dose-dependent manner in several malignant cell lines (37). Based on animal study, Terminalia chebula may prevent ferric nitrilotriacetic acid (Fe- NTA)-induced renal tumorigenesis in Wistar rats (38), and Triphala (a combination of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica, and Emblica officinalis) may reduce benzo(a)pyrene-induced forestomach papillomagenesis in mice (39).
Antioxidants: Based on in vitro and animal studies, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia chebula Retz., and Triphala (a combination of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica, and Emblica officinalis) may have free radical-scavenging activities, as well as antilipid peroxidation and antisuperoxide radical formation (51; 52; 53; 54; 55; 39; 56; 49; 57). Based on an in vitro study, Aller-7® (a combination of Terminalia chebula and six other herbs) may have concentration-dependent scavenging activities toward biochemically generated hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anion, nitric oxide, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical, and 2,2-azinobis-ethyl-benzothiozoline-sulphonic acid diammonium salt radical, and it may also inhibit free radical-induced hemolysis (58).

While haritaki is so well known for its affinity for vata, haritaki is acutally tridoshic, meaning that it can help bring balance to all three doshas. We can partly make sense of this by looking at its rasa (taste). Haritaki contains five of the six tastes, all but salty. Thanks to the sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes, haritaki can help pacify excess pitta; with the presence of the astringent, bitter, and pungent tastes, it helps remove excess kapha; and with the sweet and sour tastes, it helps with excess vata.12 Beyond this, we don’t really know what makes haritaki tridoshic with such a knack for removing any excess dosha. This is one of haritaki’s prabhavas, or unique, inexplicable actions (and yes, haritaki has more than one prabhava!). And yet, somehow haritaki gracefully pulls it off.
Products as per Ayurvedic Standards : Herbs are powdered in their original form without extracting any oil or any of the active phyto-ingredient  . Herb like turmeric, neem seeds  babchi , yellow shatavari (from Nepal)has oil inside. We grind with the oil instead of extracting the oil because oil has also unique properties. This makes processing lengthy and involve lot of labour. But potency and full spectrum of the herb paysoff its price to user.

Nithyananda reports that most people doing this evaluation, experience a huge difference in their understanding and ability to cognize deeper truths when taking Haritaki. The same applies for the IQ test. Most people report that they see an increase in their IQ scores when they reduce the junk food eating and include this yogic super brain food in their diet.
Haritaki contains antibacterial agents that clean the gut of harmful bacteria. Researchers point out that for every hour the human waste stays in the gut the bacteria multiply by many millions. Many of these bacteria are harmful and have been connected with diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Researchers have found that the bacteria penetrate the  intestinal walls, and create cuts. These cuts are similar to the lesions that appear in the brain as part of the onset of these diseases. Very interestingly, these cuts in the intestinal walls are showing up up to 20 years in advance of the cuts appearing in the brain. The conclusion is that the disease spreads through the central nervous system to the brain. Tests for early onset of Parkinson’s are now being conducted by looking into the intestines for signs of these cuts.
